Howard Street Charter School seeks to provide an innovative public education balancing the humanities, language, arts, science, and technology. After 22 years at its former location, Howard Street moved to its new downtown location in December of 2019. Howard Street Charter School was founded in 1997 as part of the South Salem High School building and was the first charter school to be added to the Salem-Keizer School District. The new central location will allow Howard Street to be close to public transportation and therefore allow easier access for families of those attending the school. The new location will have many firsts for Howard Street, including a dedicated science lab and its very own music classroom. Many unique features include: 20 solar panels, seismic upgrades, a new kitchen, and bleacher style stairs for school gatherings. More than 40 companies came together for this project and worked together like a well-oiled machine. In fact, everyone worked together so efficiently, that Rich Duncan Construction was able to finish the job 10 weeks early! The new location for Howard Street Charter School was designed by AC + Co Architecture. Rich Duncan Construction, Inc. is very privileged to be Howard Street Charter School’s builder of choice!
