SEDCOR Award Presented for Partnership
At the annual Honors Luncheon in June, over 300 members of SEDCOR and several civic leaders and government officials were present to watch several local businesses honored for their outstanding achievements in promoting economic growth in our area. Among those recognized were Rich Duncan Construction, along with Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI), for working together to bring the Discovery Pavilion to completion at The Oregon Garden. This relationship was given the Outstanding Public/Private Partnership of the year award.
Bringing this project into reality depended not only upon the financial support and donations, but the numerous donations of materials and time to construct the pavilion. As part of their long-standing tradition of giving back to the community, Rich Duncan Construction and staff gladly stepped up to take the lead role of general contractor and to serve as a coordinator for the generous in-kind donations of materials and time for this project. With assistance from John Gooley of Withers Lumber, the team went to work gathering supporters, securing donations for materials, and coordinating the timing for the construction phases to be handled by several construction trade contractors.
As these donations and supporters came together, the synergy between the construction trades and its suppliers demonstrated yet again that Rich Duncan Construction has the ability to assemble the right team for every project. By utilizing and contributing their more than twenty years of commercial construction experience, Rich Duncan Construction was able to be a part of what really was a community project. Without the entire construction team, all donors, and great vendors, the Discovery Pavilion would not have come to fruition.
We are excited that this partnership has been honored with this SEDCOR award, as it the project really has been a community project, allowing hundreds of people to come together to partner for the advancement of forest education, economic growth and business development.
